My two favorite teachers were these two. Without a doubt, they made the classes intersting and really challenged me to think, not just memorize.

George Magenta and Patrice Cochran were also great but they weren't there that long.

I still remember more information from Jack Hillers class than from UVA and UGA business school. And I probably use more of his information in directing my associates. The one prominent phrase I will never forget is that "Your history determines your experiences which determines your values"

Killer Hiller...sure Mr. Russell had a great curriculum  - who wouldn't prefer it...and Mr Shipp -  remember him -  had some great philisophical positions...but the mantra that is with me to this day as a previous entry noted - your experiences determine your behaviors determines your values...or was it you behaviour determined your experince determines your value... in any case he could make history an adventure.

It was definitely "Experience determines behavior determines values" The point being that morality is a variable construct based on the nature of a culture, rather than an absolute existing outside of a cultural context. This is for me too one of the clearest things I remember form High School.

I liked Seftas, but honestly, I couldn't stand Hiller.

Killer Hiller. I don't think I will ever forget his class. Absolutely the most challenging teacher I can recall from High school or college. I remember pot shards and archealogical remnants poured out onto the tables... we had to determine the culture based on the pieces alone. An innovative way to teach!

Add me to the can't forget Mr. Hiller list. My sister had him before I did.
