Charlotte Brown (GHS class of ’67) has researched and written a book called, Groveton (Images of America). It is available through Arcadia Publishing http://www.arcadiapublishing.com & Amazon http://www.amazon.com and will be sold locally at the Huntley Meadows Visitors' Center, Variety Store on Fort Hunt Rd, and a few other local stores. This Sat. 7/13 is the 1st book signing at the Grounded Coffee (Telegraph Rd & Kings Hwy), but other signings are: 8/24 (tentatively) at the Newington Costco, 9/7 at Potomac Yards Barnes & Noble, 9/21 at Historic Huntley on Harrison Lane. It has old photos and covers the history of the area from early property owners such as George Washington and George Mason, through its days as a farming and dairy community, to the development of homes, businesses, fire & police stations, churches, and schools. All royalties will go to Friends of Historic Huntley.
